Below is a brief tutorial for using the Santa’s Magic Detector application. If you have questions that are not addressed in this tutorial, please review our Frequently Asked Questions.
To get started with the Santa’s Magic Detector application, simply press “Next Step” on the “Let’s Search for Santa’s Magic” first page.
The first page you will see is an option to invite your friends to download the Santa’s Magic Detector application and join the fun!
You can invite friends via email or by copying a link to be sent via text message or direct message.
If you don’t want to invite your friends now, but you want to have the option in the future, just press “Skip” on this screen.
If you don’t want to see this screen when you start Santa’s Magic Detector in the future, you can simply press “Don’t show this again” on this screen and you’ll skip this screen automatically in the future.
If this is your first time using the application, you should press “Calibrate” and read (or have an adult read) the calibration instructions for the application.
This is important because the application has two modes, Normal and Enhanced, and these modes work differently.
If you already know how Santa’s Magic Detector works, you can press “Skip” on this screen.
On the “Ready to Start?” screen, you should choose between “Enhanced Mode” and “Normal Mode” at the top right of the screen before you get started.
Make sure you are in the proper mode for the way you intend to use Santa’s Magic Detector. Please review our FAQs or the Calibration Instructions to learn more about the difference between the Normal and Enhanced Modes. You can access the Calibration Instructions on this page by pressing “Calibration Instructions” below the “Start Now” button, or by pressing the “i” button next to the “Normal Mode”/”Enhanced Mode” toggle.
Once you have everything set the way you want it, press “Start Now” to begin searching for Santa’s magic!
If this is your first time using the application, you’ll need to allow Santa’s Magic Detector to access your camera by pressing “OK” when prompted by the application.
After pressing “Start Now” and allowing camera access, you’ll see Santa’s Magic Detector on the screen, using your camera to show you the area being searched for Santa’s magic. You’ll see on the screen the Spirit Level indicator (which monitors levels of Christmas spirit) and the Magic Level indicator (which monitors levels of Christmas Magic). You’ll also see the “Scan” button, which you can press when you are ready to search for Santa’s magic.
Once you press “Scan” Santa’s Magic Detector will begin scanning for Santa’s magic. You’ll see the search bar on the screen, the search radius indicator where the “Scan” button used to be, and the Spirit Level and Magic Level indicators will be working. Be sure to have your sound turned up, you’ll also hear a searching “beep” indicating Santa’s Magic Detector is working!
When Santa’s Magic Detector finds Santa’s Magic, you’ll see a message indicating that Santa’s magic has been found and you’ll hear Santa’s jingle bells! You’ll also see a picture of Santa appear with magical snowflakes! Santa’s Magic Detector will play a magical tinkling sound and reset so you can search for Santa’s magic again!
If you are in “Normal Mode” you simply need to press “Scan” again to start searching. If you are in “Enhanced Mode” Santa’s Magic Detector will automatically begin searching again for Santa’s magic.
